Scientists and researchers have been investigating how to block the adsorption of fat in the intestines. They have come out with a few products that are typically not recommended – Orlistat. Orlistat, commonly know as Xenical, is a drug that partially inhibits the effect of lipase and thereby is considered a fat blocker. However, it has two known side effects – intestinal gas and poor bowel movement control. Your body needs a certain amount of fat, good fat, to keep it healthy, so complete blocking of lipase would be detrimental to your health.
