The World Has To Stop Smoking Cigarettes

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Health experts everywhere agree that the best thing a smoker can do is to stop smoking cigarettes. When I was thirteen, I began smoking. It was at a concert with a friend and his older sister, and we both asked her for a smoke. I guess she thought it was cute – her little brother and his friend trying to act so grown-up and cool – and over the course of the evening, she let us both have several cigarettes.

Drug Rehab Programs not taken seriously

Monday, March 10th, 2008

It seems like it has become fashionable to join a drug rehab program especially for celebrities. Every time you open the newspaper a new story about a star on drugs is in the headlines. This makes people often forget that drug rehab program are not a fashion trend or wellness program but that real people join those programs to battle their addiction. Many are successful, but others are not.

Today you can get drugs almost everywhere if you want to. Many young people are introduced to “trendy drugs” such as cocaine or ecstasy when they are going out. They don’t know that even trying out these drugs one time can get them hooked. If they have friends and parents who stand to them and actually realize that they are addicts drug rehab facilities are often their last chance to get away from drugs again.

Unlike shown on TV there are many drug rehab facilities available for everyday people and not for stars only. Treatment is not cheap, but there are certainly facilities with different price ranges available.

It is important to ensure that people realize that drug rehab facilities are not something fashionable, but a place where people who have become addicted to drugs are fighting their daemons to be able to start a normal life again.

Understanding What is an Addiction

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Let’s take the mind of a person who is not considered to have an addictive personality. He or she might have a couple of drinks, and the moment they feel like they are becoming slightly unwell or out of control, they will stop without giving it a second thought. Someone who has an addictive personality will often continue regardless.  Whether it’s a food beverage or substance makes little difference.  In the mind of a normal temperate person they will make a decision to stop or moderate, whereas the mind of an addictive type will tell then to continue doing more of the same regardless of consequences.  Go here for more Understanding What is an Addiction or here for a special piece on Known Substance Abuse Treatment options
