Migraine Treatments

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

Before we begin, know that our goal is to give you as much useful information on migraine treatments as we can fit on our page.

After umpteen million migraine treatments, this kid despaired to the point where when she had a migraine, she would go into the coolest, darkest place in the housethe bathroomand lie on the floor with her head against the cold stone of the tub and beg, Just kill me. Please, just kill me. This kid had had too early on the subjection to the worst of physical ailments: the kind of pain you cannot meditate away with your thoughts or do mind-control exercises or experiments with to stop your head from thinking about painas the pain is IN the tool you use to think away or re-think.

Then again, one of the advanced migraine treatments of the sixties and seventies (especially the latter) was to use a form of biofeedback, psychically reducing or eliminating the pain by focusing on changing the alpha/beta wave patterns by warming the hands and rubbing the feet, etc.. The blood leaves the extremities during [most] migraines. If you suffer these abominations, you will notice at onset your hands and feet are cold. So warming by rubbing does a couple of things: it returns blood flow, and it changes your brain wave patterns/activity so the focus is not so all-consuming.

These groovier versions of migraine treatments were suggested after the kid had been suggested to chemical migraine treatments (Equigesic, sub-lingual pills, Caffergot, Darvoset, and more); to allergy identification migraine treatments (trying to find the offending food or smell source and eliminating it).

To understand the next part of this article, you need to have a clear grasp of migraine treatments that has already been presented to you.

And to those migraine education sessions in the family doctors office that helped only to the degree that they justified and consoled with pamphlets on the history of migraines and famous migraine sufferers or the medical explanation that a normal blood flow runs through the fingers of veins, axons, dendrites at a regulated pace, but abnormally pools and bunches in one area thereby creating the traffic jam throbbing as blood attempts to gush into an area only capable of taking half that amount.

The kid tried migraine treatments as they were developed and introduced. She read up on migraine treatments. She continued to suffer the bastards. The years of Qualuudes and other ill-gotten street versions of migraine treatments aside, she found that only two methods combined work for her: doctor prescribed Imitrex (which she took at onset, foregoing, after the first trial, the preliminary pills that made her puke more) and the highly controversial (addictive) Vicodin.

The frustrating reality is that migraines are not fully understood and migraine treatments are just thattreatments that get you high enough to forget but that do not cure or eliminate.

When we begin to bring this information together about migraine treatments, it starts to form the main idea of what this subject is about.

In Search Of Massage Therapy School

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

This article could be the answer you have been looking for about massage therapy school. We have written on the topic which will give you the information you need.

Ah, do you know what would be good right now? No, it’s not a cheeseburger or a chocolate cake. Okay, well a chocolate cake would be rather choice, but I was referring to something far from the food category. Possibly a massage. Have you ever taken the time to indulge in a wonderful massage? I must admit it’s one of my favorite experiences. There’s just something about lying on a table and having your back kneaded ever so skillfully that helps me to relax.

It’s without a doubt, something every human being should try. Thank God for the ever-popular massage therapy school. That’s right; a number of people are taking advantage of these as we speak. A massage therapy school can lead to a wonderful career. Can you imagine total silence and clam, soothing music with no boss yelling in your face? If this sounds ideal, maybe it’s time you looked into a massage therapy school in your area.

The concept of massage has become rather popular in recent times. Sure, it’s been around for centuries, but these days we have a plethora of high-end salons and spas on every corner to satisfy our tired aching muscles. Just last month I stepped into the local salon and spa for a little R and R. I was lead down a winding staircase and toward a small door. After entering the serene room, my mind was set at ease as pleasant aromas tickled my nose. I soon fell into a perfect nirvana of stress-less relaxation.

Keep reading further to learn how this topic of massage therapy school can benefit you, as the rest of this article will supply you with the needed information.

Yeah, I know it sounds like some David Lynch film. However, this was my last experience with a masseuse. She even told me about the massage therapy school she attended in Cincinnati. Being the curious fellow that I am, I had to make a few inquiries. She told me that she loved the massage therapy school training and they actually helped place her with a job. You can hardly beat that. All I could think about was I’m jealous of her husband. I need a masseuse for a wife.

If you are interested in massage therapy school, you can easily hop online to check out a variety of options. There are virtually schools all over the country now days. You can also acquire the pay rates for massage specialists these days. Although it will vary from spa to spa, they do provide an average, which is pretty decent. Get your magic touch from a massage therapy school and start earning a living in a more peaceful atmosphere.

I want to thank you for visiting. Go ahead and look around to find additional helpful tips and information on massage therapy school.

About Massage Courses

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

As we all know, this subject on massage courses is something that we could all use a little education on no matter who you are.

Whether you want to be a professional massage therapist, or just want to be able to give your girlfriend a better back rub, chances are, there are massage courses available in the area that you live which are just right for your interests. The great thing about massage courses is that they will give you such a valuable and useful skill, and perhaps will also start you on the way to a lucrative and rewarding career.

Massage therapists can potentially earn as much as doctors, with far less overhead and less time to complete their training. Best of all, a professional massage therapist can set his or her own hours, and does not have to deal with the HMO organizations nearly as much as a doctor. And even if it turns out that, once you’ve taken your massage courses, you discover that you don’t want to be a CMT, your massage therapist training will still have given you a great skill that you can use to make those around you very happy.

The first of many massage courses which I took was actually a couples massage class down at the local community center. The couples format is ideal for massage courses which are not meant for professionals, because it means that everyone comes in, right off the bat, with someone whom they are comfortable practicing on. No one wants to take massage courses with total strangers, as it is hard to trust someone enough to let them really work on your body if you do not really know them that well.

Before we go on further, let us take a moment to review what we have learned so far about massage courses.

Anyway, after that class, I was hooked, and immediately I signed up for more massage courses. My girlfriend did too, and we both decided to enroll in massage therapist training courses in Sacramento, Ca. It was much harder than either of us had realized. This might sound strange to you, but it is draining taking massage courses all day.

Not only is there a fair bit of study of anatomy that you have to do, but on top of that the actual work of massaging is tiring. It got so that we were so exhausted from our massage courses that we rarely even exchanged back rubs anymore. But in the end, it was worth it. Now we are both licensed massage therapists, and we both can spend our time making money doing something that we love. There is really nothing better than that.

When we learn, we continue on a path of growth. Therefore, learning about massage courses has already helped you more than you know.

Please don’t tell me you had McDonalds for lunch. This is the prime reason our nation is in the bad shape they currently complain about. Fast food, fast food, fast food! We’ve got to learn to avoid all that fast food. Don’t buy into the commercials that act like you will have a wonderful and healthy day if you scarf down a value meal. In reality this is completely bogus. The truth is in the fat and calories.

When you consume that Big Mac and large fries, your body is overwhelmed with fat and cholesterol. Not only does this clog your arteries and cause you to pack on the pounds, but it also makes you fatigued. Have you noticed your lack of energy? Meals that are high in fat will have that effect on you. They basically weigh you down, and make you tired. This is not a good thing. What you want is to feel energetic and ready to go do anything. You want to tackle your life properly, but need healthy eating plans to do so.

As we take a closer look at healthy eating plans, keep in mind all of the useful and important information that we have learned so far.

In addition, you need to avoid processed foods such as chips, cookies, and crackers. All of which commonly contain preservatives, and additives harmful to our bodies. I will admit that it took my family quite a while to really look into healthy eating plans. We all loved junk food just like anyone else. Now, it’s not that you can’t enjoy and ice cream cone, or chocolate brownie once in a while, but you really have to consume in moderation. For example, those fatty, sugar infused foods will hurt you if gobbled down on a daily basis.

Dehydration - A Common Occurrence

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

We hope that you finish this article to learn at least a little bit of information about dehydration.

Dehydration is more common than you may think. Its a commonly-known problem, occurring when the body looses too much fluid without having it replenished, but many people think that you only get dehydrated when youre extremely thirsty and are exercising for a long period of time or stuck out in the Sahara desert with a cup of water and miles and miles of sand between you and the nearest oasis. Of course, these examples are both true.

Many people who do exercise dont drink enough water while they work out, and since they lose so much fluid through perspiration they do end up dehydrated. The same is true for those trudging through the desert, but these are extreme cases.

Many people become dehydrated through the course of their daily lives because theyre not drinking enough water. Often this happens gradually, and well hardly notice it until at one point in the afternoon we feel extremely thirsty. If this happens to you, its a good indicator that youve been dehydrated for awhile, since if you feel thirsty its a definite sign of dehydration.

In the introduction, we saw how this subject on dehydration can be beneficial to anyone. We will continue by explaining the basics of this topic.

Thirst isnt the only side-effect; dehydration often leaves people feeling tired, lethargic, sickly, or even faint. Though you may be drinking liquid, caffeinated beverages or drinks with high sugar content arent very good at hydrating you, and diuretics like coffee can even leave you more dehydrated.

Dehydration is also a big issue if your body is losing a lot of unabsorbed water through diarrhea or vomiting. If this is the case, not only is the body losing a lot of water, people have a hard time replacing it if they feel sickly or nauseous. In most cases this can be remedied by pushing fluids, and electrolyte mixtures often speed the process of recovery. If the dehydration is serious it may be necessary to take fluids through an IV, though this is usually only required in extreme cases.

The best way to avoid dehydration, both in times of illness and in day to day life, is to make sure that youre drinking enough water. It seems basic, but making an conscious effort to drink plenty of water over the course of the day can have great effects on your energy levels and your overall well-being. Its usually as simple as carrying around a water bottle or keeping a glass of water filled on your counter at home, since if the water is there in front of you, youre more likely to drink before you get dehydrated.

If you thoroughly examine each part that we have discussed about dehydration, you will see a common thread of which to explore.

Where To Find Certified Addiction Counselor

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Think you already know what certified addiction counselor is all about? Chances are that you do not, but by the end of this article you will have a good idea.

In our current society, impulsiveness and addictiveness run high among the population like never before. As this is the case, there has never been a better time to consider a career as a certified addiction counselor. As a certified addiction counselor, it will be your job to help people handle all kinds of different compulsive behaviors, from heroin to shopping.

It really doesn’t matter that much what the problem is in particular, the fact is that there will be someone who is addicted to doing it over and over again, and can not stop without your help. The amount of good you can do in your job will give you pride in your work as a certified addiction counselor like few careers would give you.

Of course, beginning a career in certified addiction counseling is not as easy as all that. Many of us have a knack for reading people and give good advice, but it takes more than this to become a certified addiction counselor. Not only do you have to role in a fully accredited professional program, but you also typically have to undergo some amount of supervised training before you are a fully accredited certified addiction counselor and able to go off and help people, but once you have all of the training that you need, the possibilities are almost endless.

If you liked the first section of this article, stay tuned because we have more to follow in the next section about certified addiction counselor.

For example, many certified addiction counselors work in the private sector, taking patients for one on one visits independent of any institution. This has many advantages over some of the other jobs that a certified addiction counselor can do. One of them is, obviously, that the pay is better than working for a hospital or residential treatment center.

Another one is that you can have full control over the type of treatment you will administer as a certified addiction counselor working in private practice. You are not required to administer whatever twelve step program is currently in vogue at the institution at which you work, and can develop your own program specifically tutored to your patient.

Of course, it is more typical for a certified addiction counselor to work in an institution. This allows them to work closely with other professionals, and to really make a difference in the lives of those who have fallen farthest through their addictions. A certified addiction counselor in an institution works with people whose addictions are so severe that they have necessitated dropping out of society for a while to recuperate, and working with these people, there is just so much difference you can make!

There are plenty of other articles on this website, equally interesting and well researched. There are so much more you can learn about certified addiction counselor, right here.

About Allergic Reactions

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

The point of this article is to help you to the next level and show you what this subject on allergic reactions has to offer.

I have, in my third and fourth decades of living, discovered some of the most unusual of allergic reactions and have learned the most interesting of realities about allergies. The education began when I was teaching my second semester of college English. As one up to that point who rarely missed a day of work, I was appalled to find one very early summer morning that I had an enflamed face and that every pore on my face had filled with a blistera tiny pustule that was, as if the redness wasnt enough, itchy.

When I went to the clinic (not yet having medical coverage of any kind), the clinician seemed nonplussed. She told me with a shrug that 1) I would have to experiment by isolating foods in my most recent diet until I found the culprit (since I ha not changed laundry or body soaps didnt add any chemicals or perfumes to my repertoire, etc.); and 2) I had developed these allergic reactionsor allergic symptomsall of a suddenthat my perfect health record of many years had nothing to do with the fact that as we get older, she said, we can pathogenically change: we can develop allergies to foods we have eaten our whole lives.

Allergic reactions as I describe are no big deal, really; and a tube of Benadryl cream and a Benadryl capsule (which makes you sleep, so watch out) are all that were needed. But other allergic reactions are hideous, drastic, and emergent. Many require immediate medical attention, as they are deadlyor, the allergens causing the allergic reactions are.

From now until the end of this article, take the time to think about how all of this information about allergic reactions can help you.

When we were teens working our first jobs, waiting tables at a private school in the summer, when scientists would come from the world over to have conferences, study, and get fed three times a day, we witnessed the more extreme cases of allergic reactions when a scientist asked if there were any shellfish in the fare we were serving. The stuffing of the meat, it turned out, had shredded somethingcrab or lobsterand the man swelled, turned red, and had to be rushed to the hospital. What is most frightening, I think, is that such allergic reactions can include the tongue swelling. Think about it. If your tongue swells too far, it will block your breathing passages. Youre done.

In my case, many years after my fear that we had killed an important personwho showed up unshaken the next morning, by the wayit turns out I had allergic reactions to soy products: I loved to (and was so lazy about cooking that I would) eat raw hot dogs. At the same time, I was experimenting with health food store items and had drunk a big glass of soy milk. Imagine: an innocuous little thing like a bean.

We have come to the end of my informational article on allergic reactions. It is now your job to take this information and do something with it. Good luck and thanks for visiting.

Acne Cleansers - Do They Work?

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

We have numerous other articles written on this very subject on acne cleansers. Each one tackles a different aspect of this topic.

When I was 15, I was traumatized by my acne. I tried all kinds of acne cleansers, as well as other topical treatments, and even some internal junk, but nothing seemed to work. It was a terrible time in my life. I was just starting to try to talk to girls, and looking for a girlfriend, but my terrible complexion made me feel afraid to even approach them.

I don’t know if it was my imagination or not, looking back on it, but it seemed that none of them were at all interested, and that no one wanted to talk to me. It might have been adolescent insecurity, but all of the acne cleansers that I used seemed to do nothing, and my self-esteem continued to plummet.

Then I realized that acne cleansers would never take care of the problem, and that I would have to take care of it myself. My father sat me down and told me that, at my age, he had the same problem. There was the paralyzing insecurity, the acne cleansers, the various concoctions and treatments, the girl craziness.

In the introduction, we saw how this subject on acne cleansers can be beneficial to anyone. We will continue by explaining the basics of this topic.

Then, he finally found something that worked. It wasn’t the acne cleansers; no acne cleanser can really do anything to completely halt teenage insecurity. It was a matter of taking himself in hand, and realizing that he could do anything that he set his mind to, and that he was good enough just as he was.

Personally, I thought that this was a bunch of hokum when I first heard it, and I decided to keep trying the acne cleansers. Sure enough, eventually I found one that worked just fine, and did help me out a little, but not enough to really cure all of my acne. Then I realized that, alone acne cleansers weren’t really enough. My dad had been right about that part! I needed something more.

The answer, of course, was proper diet. Once I started to exercise regularly and eat less greasy food, my acne began to really clear up. I can not say that it went away completely right away. That would be ridiculous. But it did get steadily better, until it was really not that bad. And you know what, self-esteem is great, but a good complexion and a manly physique is even better. I’ve been grateful to my dad for many things, but his advice about acne cleansers was never one of those things.

I’m hoping that you found this article about acne cleansers interesting and helpful. The internet is full of helpful tips and tricks and I appreciate you coming and visiting.

What Exactly Is Acid Reflux Disease

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

I’m glad you found my article on acid reflux disease. Sit back and relax and I believe you will learn a thing or two.

Commonly called ‘heart burn’, acid reflux disease is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus. It’s annoying and painful. But you want to know the truth, the reflux of the stomach’s liquid contents into the esophagus occurs in most normal individuals. However, when heartburn becomes acid reflux disease or Gastro esophageal reflux disease, commonly referred to as GERD, it is s real problem. That is because with GERD, the acid is stronger and stays in the esophagus longer causing more discomfort.

Most often, you will experience this during the daytime when you are upright, sitting straight, or standing. You body handles this reflux by the fluid flowing back down into your stomach. You swallow more during the daytime therefore draining the acid back to where it belongs. Your salivary glands produce saliva that also contains bicarbonate that acts to neutralize the acid your stomach has kicked up.

At night though, you may have a greater problem when acid reflux disease occurs that is because while sleeping, gravity does not work as well lying down, your constant swallowing stops, and the production of saliva is reduced.

The second half of this article will help you to extend upon what you have learned about acid reflux disease in the first half.

Certain conditions make a person more prone to acid reflux disease, this GERD. For example, while you are pregnant, this can be a serious problem. Elevated hormone levels of pregnancy probably cause reflux by lowering the pressure in that part of your body known as the lower esophageal sphincter. Also, the growing baby puts more pressure on the abdomen. Both of these effects of pregnancy tend to increase the risk of GERD.

If your acid reflux disease is a minor condition, then you should only experience minor symptoms. These would include primarily heartburn, regurgitation, and nausea. However, if the condition is complicated, then watch out for the following symptoms.

The liquid that comes back into the esophagus damages the lining of the esophagus. The body tries to protect itself from the acid reflux disease by ‘inflaming’ the esophagus. Trying to speed the healing process through the inflammation, the wall of the esophagus may form an ulcer. The ulcer is a break in the lining of the esophagus wall. Then what happens is that there may be bleeding. If the bleeding is very severe, patients might need a blood transfusion or even surgical treatment. If your heartburn is severe or acute, happening very frequently, you need to see a doctor.

What can you do for yourself to help the condition? Try sleeping a pillow a night that raises your chest up slightly so that gravity can bring the acid back down more easily. Since this condition usually occurs on a full stomach, eat earlier and eat less to keep the stomach from being too full. Ease off on the chocolate, peppermint, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks. Reduce fatty foods and of course, cut down or quit smoking. Other foods may aggravate the conditions. Avoid spicy or acid-containing foods, like citrus juices, carbonated beverages, and tomato juice.

We hope that you have found this article on acid reflux disease interesting and eye catching to say the least. Its objective is to entertain and inform.
